The Day the Devil went on Trial

A Novel

Meet Frank.

He's an alcoholic.

He also happens to be the Devil.  And he has the red tights – perhaps a little too tight, as he often walks around with a wedgie – cape, horns and pitchfork to prove it.  Of course, our story begins in California, where everyone has their own style, so one can understand why not every participant at the Alcoholics Anonymous meeting believed Frank was, in fact, the Devil.

But he is.

At least for now.

However, if he doesn’t soon get control of his drinking, and more importantly, start attracting new souls to their joint enterprise, the Board of Directors of Hell (or in long form, Heaven Except with Limited Liability) are sure to fire him.  Unfortunately, Heaven has conspired against Frank and selected one last – and incredibly unlikely - individual to visit Earth and save the world.

With humor, profound insights, and a fair bit of existential angst, this delightful morality tale shares the inspiring journey of an unsuspecting human hero as he gains eclectic wisdom on life, death and what it means to be a good person.  The remarkable story concludes with a groundbreaking revelation that might just transform the reader’s understanding of humanity.

Shir Hadash: New Journeys Along an Ancient Path

Bereishit

The Torah in general, and the Book of Genesis/Breishit in particular, offers inspirational wisdom as to how best live one's life to achieve maximum meaning, ethical behavior, personal satisfaction and communal contribution. This book uncovers much of that wisdom, all the while promoting a vision of traditional Judaism that focuses on the positive contained within it -- the 'shir', or song, of Judaism if you will. For too long people have been misled to believe that traditional Judaism is all about learning how to say 'no' when in fact is is primarily about learning how to say 'yes' in a most insightful, celebratory and powerful way.
